What started as a promising career at Ferrari ended in a disastrous spell for Felipe Massa, in a stint where the Brazilian emerged as the unofficial number two driver at the Italian team. Having made his Formula One debut with Sauber and then moulded for a Ferrari seat, Massa started his career at Maranello by unleashing his potential. Not only did he manage to upstage his teammate Kimi Raikkonen in 2008 and 2009, he also very nearly clinched the title in 2008 as well! But then the decline began soon afterwards. A horrifying accident in 2009, which sidelined him for the rest of the season, and the arrival of Fernando Alonso put Massa in the backseat at Maranello. Massa had been hanging on to his fading Formula One career by the edge of his nails ever since his freak accident only to be aggravated by the infamous "Fernando is faster than you" message that obliterated any confidence he had remaining. But then Williams now offered Massa a place in their team. However, Massa failed to capitalize on the opportunity, getting beaten consistently by a young teammate in Valtteri Bottas. In the twilight of his career, it is surely too much to ask for a strong finish from the Brazilian. Or is it?
