Having been signed by McLaren for 2013, after some impressive giant-killing performances in a Sauber in the preceding campaign, Sergio Perez was dropped from the British team's line-up having raced for just a solitary year. Perez had little chance to prove his worthiness that year as the car wasn't quite up to the mark. He had big shoes to fill too, by replacing Lewis Hamilton, but Perez's podiums in 2012 had given clear indications that he was capable of much more. If a driver racing with a mid-field team nearly challenges the likes of Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton for a Grand Prix win, then it's very likely that he will continue in the sport. Force India provided a relief for Perez, affectionately called Checo, ensuring that his career wasn't nipped in the bud. His influence back home is such that it has also revived interest in staging a Mexican Grand Prix. Ferrari had said in 2012 that Perez wasn't ready for a drive in a front-running team at the time. Perhaps the Italian team got it right then. But now Perez has another chance to prove his critics wrong, and this time for good.
