Daniil Kvyat may only be the second Russian to race in Formula One but he could well be the first to make his mark in the top level of motorsport. Having made his debut as a 19-year-old with Toro Rosso in 2014, he impressed immediately by becoming the youngest ever to score points in F1, that too in his debut appearance. Although he was out-scored by experienced teammate Jean-Eric Vergne by the end of the season, Kvyat nevertheless displayed enough to be called up to join Red Bull, replacing the departing four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel. Those questioning the move can only turn to his teammate Daniel Ricciardo, who emerged as the surprise of the season in 2014. He managed to out-score Ricciardo by three points in his maiden Red Bull season but that didn't mask his scruffy first half of the season and the fact that his Aussie teammate was unfortunate on several occasions. But Kvyat managed to do enough to sustain himself in what is a cut-throat team. However, 2016 did not prove to be fruitful as he failed to do anything noteworthy in the first three races, and was promptly demoted to Toro Rosso. He may not have yet reached the heights that many had pegged him for, but with possibly a long career ahead of him, he could potentially become a more than decent racer.
