Ever since he was announced as a Mercedes reserve late in 2014 as a teenager, Pascal Wehrlein had been pegged to step into Formula One. The youngest ever DTM champion was snapped up by Manor in 2016 where he scored the team's only point that season with a tenth-place finish in the Austrian Grand Prix. His talent is there for all to see. It's not just that point that grabbed attention, it was his qualifying pace too as he cracked Q2 several times for the minnows. Overlooked by Mercedes as a replacement for the departing Nico Rosberg, he signed for Sauber for 2017. It's a more stable team than Manor but Wehrlein will be out to prove that he was ready for that Mercedes seat.
