Highlight Notes
SESSION 2: Raikkonen leads from Hamilton and Vettel, with Ferrari seemingly having the upper hand in Canada as well. Mercedes seemed to struggle, particularly in the hands of Bottas. Troubles of Red Bull and as usual for McLaren.

Still, data to study overnight and FP3 to iron it out. Join us again for final practice on Saturday at 1400 GMT.

End of Friday practice.

Perez spins at Turn 2 followed by a big snap for Kvyat at Turn 6.

The session resumes with 13 mins left on the clock.

Raikkonen reports that a few photographers are positioned in a dangerous position at the exit of Turn 3. "If you go off you will hit them," he adds.

RED FLAG: Verstappen's Red Bull dies on him.

"Impressive stuff from Kimi again so far today," reckons Karun Chandhok. "That 2018 contract is looking more and more likely...."

This is turning into a spin-fest. Kvyat loses it at Turn 2.

Vettel spins at Turn 6. This should be a fun weekend!

Bottas is not having a good day. A spin at Turn 1, panning across Turn 2. And he is 0.375 seconds off pace. That incident forced Vettel to swerve and go off track.

And Vandoorne spins. Great day for McLaren, eh?

Alonso is in familiar territory. In the garage. He is yet to head out.

Raikkonen leads past the halfway mark, two tenths ahead of Hamilton, who is only marginally ahead of Vettel.

"Keep an eye on the ultrasoft times now; we are about to see some quali sims," Pirelli points out. "As expected it's Mercedes versus Ferrari."

Bottas locked up twice on his last lap there. We'll just leave it at that.

We have our first spinner in just under 10 minutes. Grosjean turns his Haas around.

Track has gone green and Sainz heads out immediately. Remember, he had missed most of FP1 due to what looked like a power unit issue.

Hello and welcome to the second practice session for the Canadian Grand Prix.

This is Hamilton's territory, having won here five times including the last two years. Little wonder he was quickest in FP1. Can he keep his pace, and more importantly get his long runs sorted?

Let's find out if we get any indication in FP2, starting at 1800 GMT.
Temp: 23°C
Forecast: Overcast
